The German government sees hydrogen as critical to decarbonising its economy by 2045. Some sectors like fertilisers, steel or chemicals have few alternatives. But is the same true for heating? With the help of subsidies, Bonn's municipal utility is already planning a hydrogen-filled future for its gas-fired combined heat and power plant.
