Germany is set to face wild power price swings this winter. There's one thing that Germans fear more than their currently faltering government and that's the so-called Dunkelflaute – when it's cold, dark and there's no wind. Given that Germany phased out nuclear last year and is scaling down its coal-fired power use, low wind generation this winter could send energy prices soaring and really put the market to the test.
