The Norwegian GO dilemma – Should it stay, or should it go?

When Norway’s current centre-left government took office in 2021, it declared that Norway should pull out of the market for Guarantees of Origins. Given that 80% of all GOs issued in Norway are consumed in Europe, mainly in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, such a decision would have serious implications and recent statements from the country’s energy minister do suggest there may have been a change of heart.
